Resumen

Perinatal bereavement is an experience with a potential emotional impact, often marked by social and institutional invisibility, especially regarding the male experience. Considering the relevance of this theme, the objective was to identify psychopathological symptoms in men experiencing perinatal grief. To this end, an integrative literature review was conducted using SciELO, BVS, LILACS, and Google Scholar. The study included full-text, indexed, open-access articles published in Portuguese, English, and Spanish between 2000 and 2025. Duplicate articles, texts inaccessible in full, and non-empirical studies were excluded. Additionally, grey literature, including reports, monographs, dissertations, and theses, was discarded. After screening and full-text reading, seven studies comprised the final synthesis. The main results revealed the presence of internalized emotional distress, characterized by intense sadness, anxiety, guilt, and difficulty in emotional expression, as well as externalizing manifestations, such as irritability, social isolation, alcohol use, and avoidant behaviors. Symptoms compatible with prolonged grief and traumatic stress were also identified. Finally, it is noted that male perinatal bereavement is associated with significant mental health repercussions, highlighting the need for greater recognition of this experience and the development of care practices sensitive to men
