Resumen

The present research aimed to evaluate the influence of relationships with central cooperatives in fostering innovation in singular cooperatives. An exploratory-descriptive study was carried out, operationalized through a quantitative approach and from a positivist epistemological paradigm. Data were collected from 213 cooperatives and analyzed using analysis of variance and linear regression. Furthermore, through factor analysis, the validity and reliability of the investigated constructs were evaluated. Although innovation is an expressively relevant element in cooperativism, there are gaps regarding the broad knowledge about fostering innovation in the context of cooperatives. It was identified that central cooperatives influence the innovation of singular cooperatives, especially if they maintain expressive relational ties, as more widely observed in credit cooperatives. The central cooperative can act in the centralization of innovation activities, as well as enable the formation of closed networks, to minimize opportunistic behavior and favor the transfer of knowledge and resources between cooperatives that are linked to it.
