BIOTECHNOLOGY TEACHING: ANALYSIS OF METHODOLOGIES APPLIED TO DISCIPLINE AVAILABLE ON THE INTERNET

In biotechnology work at different levels of education, there is a responsibility to inform students about the scientific and technical aspects of biotechnology. Methodologies applied to teaching are tools that complement pedagogical material, and improve students' performance in some content. In this context, a survey was made on the methodologies available on the internet (videos, practical classes, documentaries and animations) and evaluated their applicability in the school environment. As evaluation criteria, the following criteria were considered: audience, credibility, accuracy, culture standard, objectivity, coverage, aesthetics and updating. The results showed that 85% of the videos and 60% of the sites met the criteria to be used in teaching, and the criteria that received the best evaluation were accuracy and ease of content. However, the requirements such as credibility and educational proposal were those with worse evaluation. It is concluded that there is a need to improve the content of the websites and videos available on the subject, as well as the resources available in the area of biotechnology, since there is a shortage of materials available for teaching.
