Abstract

Play is fundamental for children across all ages and cultures, serving as the primary language through which they construct identity, navigate social relationships, and understand the world. Therefore, this article aims to analyze the integration of play in pedagogical mediation employed by teachers in Early Childhood Education classes at a municipal school in Aurora, Ceará. Methodologically, this is an exploratory case study with a qualitative approach, utilizing data collected through a five-question questionnaire administered to three teachers of Pre-K I and Pre-K II classes. The findings indicate that the participating teachers recognize the importance of play, report receiving adequate support in pedagogical training and resources, and incorporate various games into their classroom practices. Furthermore, despite the challenges inherent in mediating play, this activity reportedly contributes to the construction of positive professional memories regarding the teaching profession.
