ADHD IN ADULT LIFE: IMPLICATIONS OF LATE DIAGNOSIS
Abstract
The article addresses the importance of diagnosing Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and the impacts of late diagnosis in adulthood, highlighting its possible implications. The main objective is to identify the consequences of late diagnosis and its effects on individuals' lives, considering the contexts in which they are inserted. The methodology was based on Bardin's theoretical framework, using content analysis based on a literature review. Articles related to the topic, published in the last 10 years, were included, excluding duplicates or those that did not meet the criteria established by the keywords. The results highlighted the scarcity of studies on late diagnosis and its impacts but highlighted significant social and professional difficulties faced by these individuals. There was also a lack of support and the need to work on inclusion. It is concluded that it is essential to disseminate accurate information about ADHD and encourage the search for help, promoting a better quality of life for individuals.
