ANÁLISE DA MOBILIDADE FUNCIONAL E CONTROLE MOTOR EM ESTUDANTES UNIVERSITÁRIOS: ESTUDO TRANSVERSAL

University life has been associated with increased sedentary behavior and habits that negatively impact students' functional mobility and motor control. Prolonged periods in classrooms, excessive use of electronic devices, and reduced physical activity levels can lead to musculoskeletal deficits, affecting the functional performance of this population. In this context, the early identification of motor control impairments and lower limb strength deficits can contribute to the implementation of preventive and rehabilitative strategies. This study aimed to assess functional mobility and motor control in university students using the Sit-to-Stand Test and the Forward Step Down Test. A cross-sectional study was conducted with healthy university students, analyzing the number of repetitions, execution time, and compensatory movements during test performance. The sample consisted of 39 individuals, 67% of whom were women. The Sit-to-Stand Test results indicated that men performed better (26±7.2 repetitions) compared to women (13.0±4.0), with both values falling below normative standards. In the Forward Step Down Test, motor control ranged from good to moderate, with differences observed between the dominant and non-dominant limbs. The findings suggest a reduced functional capacity among participants, which may be related to factors such as muscle strength, lifestyle habits, and anthropometric characteristics. These results reinforce the importance of combining functional tests in the assessment of mobility and motor control, allowing for a more comprehensive approach to identifying functional deficits. Implementing health promotion programs and musculoskeletal dysfunction prevention strategies may be an effective approach to improving functionality and quality of life in university students.
