The article aims to explore the application of developmental teaching theory in mathematics education, focusing on the development of critical thinking and ethical awareness. A pedagogical experiment was conducted with high school students, who analyzed conflicting graphs from local electoral surveys, fostering reflections on the manipulation of statistical data. Methodologically, the work involved practical activities, such as the collection and analysis of graphs, debates on ethics, and the reconstruction of graphic representations using technological tools. The results demonstrated that students not only acquired statistical competencies but also developed greater attention to the information they receive and a critical understanding of how misinformation can influence social decisions. It is concluded that developmental teaching, by connecting mathematical concepts to real contexts, promotes meaningful learning and prepares students to face the ethical and analytical challenges of the contemporary world.
