PERCEPTION OF SELF-IMAGE AND HEALTH-RELATED BEHAVIORAL FACTORS

Resumo A obesidade constitui um grave problema de saúde pública, sendo atualmente reconhecida como a quinta principal causa de mortalidade global. Em 2016, estimou-se que mais de 1,9 bilhão de adultos (≈39% da população) apresentavam sobrepeso, dos quais cerca de 660 milhões eram obesos (≈13%). Além disso, aproximadamente 340 milhões de crianças e adolescentes entre 5 e 19 anos encontravam-se com sobrepeso ou obesidade. Fatores como o aumento do consumo de alimentos ultraprocessados, ricos em açúcares e gorduras, associado ao comportamento sedentário, têm contribuído para essa epidemia. Objetivo: Avaliar o estilo de vida, bem como os recursos e métodos (dietas, uso de ergogênicos e acompanhamento profissional) empregados por indivíduos com o objetivo de emagrecimento. Métodos: Trata-se de um estudo transversal, com coleta de dados realizada entre julho e setembro, por meio da aplicação de um questionário online divulgado em redes sociais, e-mail e grupos de mensagens instantâneas. Resultados: Participaram 61 indivíduos, sendo 41 mulheres (33,3 ± 1,61 anos) e 20 homens (32,4 ± 2,59 anos). Observou-se que 31,1% são sedentários e 18% praticam exercícios apenas duas vezes por semana. Além disso, 49,18% relataram consumo de bebidas alcoólicas, 30,99% hábito de fumar (cigarro ou vape) e 27,9% dormem entre 2 e 6 horas por noite. A maioria das intervenções dietéticas foi realizada sem orientação profissional (84,32%), e estratégias como aeróbio em jejum ou uso de suplementos também foram adotadas sem supervisão (68,9%). Conclusão: Os dados evidenciam que grande parte das estratégias voltadas para emagrecimento ocorre sem respaldo técnico, envolvendo métodos de eficácia questionável e potencial risco à saúde, reforçando a necessidade de orientação por profissionais habilitados.
