VOLLEYBALL AS COGNITIVE DEVELOPMENT PROCESS IN THE CLASSES OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION: THE REALITY OF THE PUBLIC SCHOOL IN GOIÂNIA-GO

Abstract

Volleyball has become a sport of high visibility on the national scene, drawing attention and being discovered by children, youth and adults. It is at school that happens the first systematic contact, these first experiences in the sport. Cognitive development is closely linked with motor and physical capabilities as these capabilities depend on the knowable, intellect, to fulfill their potential. Thus, it conducted a transversal and descriptive case study, whose analysis is qualitative, with objective to identify the volleyball (curriculum content in schools) as an effective instrument in the full development of skills, motor and physical abilities, and cognitive skills. For data, capture was researched through questionnaire with students and their teachers in three public schools realities of Goiânia-GO. Also checking the structure that the school environment conducive to the practice of volleyball during regular physical education classes, having a range of specifications to be clumped, related, interpreted and qualified. Thus, it is concluded that most of the students see as an important instrument in their training, in some aspects that their development, but still quite shallow. On the other hand, teachers defend a practice of voting as a de facto sum without regard to the development of a passenger based on: body recognition, laterality, proprioception, agility, logical reasoning, socialization, extensive sensory motor development, values of sport among others.
