Due to globalization, there was a need to regulate the management of solid waste, which has increased in an exaggerated way in the last years, probably due to an increase in purchasing power and a lack of public awareness. With the increase of waste the need for labor was increased, thus forming the workers who do the regular collection (of the common garbage), and the special collection (of the waste that needs special treatment). The present study sought to analyze theoretically the relationship between worker"™s medicine, exposed in the form of work safety, and the execution of the workers' tasks together with the regular and special collection of solid waste. For this the present work used in its methodology the bibliographical research from the search in databases located basically in electronic libraries that cover Brazilian scientific journals and material made available on the Internet. This results in information on the subject of several authors, understanding the various fields of work of professionals who do this type of collection, as well as the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) in their work. Concluding that the need for awareness of all population, employers and workers is necessary to take care of the health and safety of these servers.
