Abstract

Over the years the environment has been suffering from the inadequate disposal of solid waste. When disposed of improperly in the environment the residues can cause contamination to the water bodies, in the soil and in the air. Waste from cosmetic products can cause damage to the environment, especially water if it is disposed of improperly because in its composition there are contaminants such as surfactants, oils, phosphates and ammoniacal compounds that are harmful to water resources. Currently there are several ecologically feasible ways to dispose of the residues coming from cosmetics, among them we can mention the co-processing that is an alternative that uses such residues in the cement production, so, the present article aims to analyze how the coprocessing can be contribute to the mitigation of solid waste disposed in the environment, especially those coming from cosmetics. For the present research was based on the bibliographical research on the subject as well as on-site visits to the companies that work in this follow-up in the municipality of Cezarina. The results obtained showed that the residues before being sent to the coprocessing are done a screening that verifies the physicochemical parameters such as granulometry, wet basis, water quantity levels and quantities of chlorine incorporated to the residues, thus, if they are fit are sent to the grinding and incorporation stage and destined to the cement kilns for total destruction of this waste. In this way, coprocessing presents an effective means of disposal of solid waste that benefits the environment and the cement industry that uses the waste in coprocessing.
