SEXUALITY IN TEXTBOOKS FOR THE 8TH YEAR OF ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Reproductive System is a structuring theme present in the textbooks of the 8th year of elementary school, and related to it are the themes: sex education, sexually transmitted diseases and teenage pregnancy. This exploratory research and qualitative approach aimed to investigate through the content analysis, the concepts present in textbooks based on the following criteria: a) Information and concepts; b) Approach of conceptual information; c) Approach of preventive information; (d) additional information. The results show that there is a scientific approach to some important specific concepts, but the preventive aspects and the relation of the subjects to the students' daily life were not adequately and satisfactorily evidenced, ie they do not contribute to the development of educational actions aimed at prevention sexually transmitted diseases and teenage pregnancy.
