The rapid adoption of social media has reached over 80% of adolescents. However, the intense use of these media can be harmful, since these media often promote unrealistic and stereotypical body representations. In this sense, the internalization of this beauty standard can result in difficulties in accepting one's own body image and in the development of eating disorders. Thus, the objective of this study was to investigate how media influences can affect the perception of body image of male adolescents, as well as to list the impacts of these influences on the development of eating disorders. This is an integrative review study carried out with 11 primary studies, resulting from the search carried out in the PubMed, PsycINFO and Web of Science databases using the following descriptors: "body image" and/or "body image perception", "eating disorders", "media" and/or "media influence" and/or "media effects", "adolescents" and/or "boys". The results show that constant exposure to beauty content on social media is associated with low self-esteem and disordered eating behaviors.
