A FORMAÇÃO DO PROFESSOR DE ATENDIMENTO EDUCACIONAL ESPECIALIZADO:
A LEGISLAÇÃO E OS PRESSUPOSTOS DE JOHN DEWEY E PAULO FREIRE
Keywords:

The changes implemented in Brazil, related to Inclusive Education and Specialized Educational Assistance (SEA), now require the SEA teacher to work with all categories of the target audience of Special Education (PAEE). Given these requirements, this article aims to reflect on the training of these professionals to work in this service. To this end, a literature review will be carried out based on the assumptions of John Dewey and Paulo Freire. This theoretical approach was chosen because even though the two authors lived in different contexts, they both shared the idea of education as a practice that should include all students regardless of their biological, psychological, social, economic or cultural conditions, guaranteeing their humanization and individual emancipation in an equal, democratic and comprehensive way. Although Brazilian legislation and teacher training courses do not yet have a very clear policy on the preparation of ESA teachers, it is necessary to think about the training of these professionals, who are one of the most important elements in the inclusion of students with special educational needs, from an inclusive perspective and transforming the reality of those who have lived in a situation of segregation and exclusion for so long.
