Dimorophobia is an emerging phenomenon in society and the causes are not very well understood. This fact reinforces the need for continuous research with a multidisciplinary profile, since a group of professionals more familiar with the common signs and symptoms are able to identify specifically and prescribe the most appropriate treatment for athletes or bodybuilders. This study aimed to perform a bibliographical research and the application of a questionnaire with 14 exploratory and closed questions to identify the occurrence of muscle dysmorphia among resistance training practitioners in a gym located in the northern region of the city of Goiânia. The results reveal that 17.9% of the 28 interviewees presented strong evidence that characterizes the disorder and 59% are not satisfied with the self-image. Therefore, these groups categorized according to the punctuation used deserve attention and guidance regarding body and mind care without this behavior becoming a disorder. It is concluded that there is still a great need for more research on this subject that was described only 25 years ago and is a painless and silent pathology that can de-structure not only the health of the practitioner of physical activity but also affect their social life, professional and family.
