One of the major challenges facing higher education institutions (HEIs) today has been teacher qualification; however, teacher qualification has been the only criterion required by the Ministry of Education and Culture (MEC) for hiring the teacher, but this is not always sufficient or satisfactory. The professional experience of the civil engineer teacher can bring to the classroom relevant elements for improvement in teaching-learning. Thus, this work had as objective to analyze the influence of the practical knowledge of the profession to the teacher in the teaching of civil engineering. As for the methodology, this work is an exploratory and descriptive research, and the means of investigation is a bibliographical and field research. The object of this study is the professors of the Civil Engineering superior course of an HEI of the city of Goiânia-GO. The data were collected through a questionnaire with the objective of evaluating the teachers' perception regarding the professional experience of their training area for teaching in the civil engineering course. The results showed that a great part of the teachers believe that the professional experience is fundamental for the professor of Civil Engineering when allied to the academic title. It is concluded that the professional experience in the labor market associated to the academic title influences positively in the development of the class, attracting and arousing the interest of the students.Downloads
