Abstract

Currently, the continuous interest in new sources of knowledge has achieved prominence in the areas of science and technology. Thus, it is necessary to use techniques that evaluate the scientific productions of countries and regions, and one of these tools is Scientometric. The mail goal of this work was to promote a scientometric analysis of publications on thermal comfort in buildings. It was done a survey of scientific publications carried out on the web of Science research platform, from 1991 to 2016, using the keywords "thermal comfort in buildings", "thermal comfort" and "thermal comfort" and "materials". These articles were read, extracted and quantified. The results showed the growth in the publications of articles, mainly in Europe. The article "Using advanced cool materials in the urban environment to mitigate heat islands and improve thermal comfort conditions" was the one with the largest number of quotes, totalizing 141. Regarding the subjects, which most approached were material, thermal performance aimed at energy saving and phase change materials. Energy control aimed mainly at sustainability and energy containment is the subject of several articles and the interest of scholars is growing in this area. The link between high human development index and technological advancement in the countries studied is confirmed. It was seen the major of the researches aim at buildings have the capacity to supply themselves energetically without harming the environment, and to bring thermal comfort to the residents. Although Brazil has made progress in research in general, it was observed that the country hasn"™t been promoting much research on thermal comfort in buildings.
