Abstract

This research aims to analyze the perception of talent management from the perspective of decision-makers at a higher education institution in Mozambique called Unisced. The aim is to understand the extent to which decision-makers at Unisced are aware of talent management practices and their impact on talent retention. Four decision-makers were interviewed who occupy strategic positions such as the rector, vice-rector, administrator and head of the human resources department. We opted for a qualitative study, where we carried out a content analysis, where we were able to analyze the content of the interview with a previously established objective. After discussing the results of the study proposed in this research, it can be seen that even though Unisced does not have an area or a person who specifically deals with talent management, it can be seen that at times it has consciously and at others unconsciously implemented talent management practices with the main aim of keeping its employees motivated and satisfied with their work, thus making them want to stay with the organization. Based on the results of the research, it was observed that although employees do not feel that there is formal and institutionalized talent management, they perceive that Unisced has dedicated itself to ensuring that they feel the necessary support from their organization. It is understood that when employees perceive this support, they tend to be more motivated, satisfied and committed to their work and their organization, which motivates them to stay in their jobs.
