WOMEN"™S LEADERSHIP: A PRAGMATIC STUDY ON THE DIFFICULTIES OF FEMALES IN LEADERSHIP POSITIONS
Abstract
This article will focus on the difficulties of women when holding leadership positions. First, is enlightened the concept of leadership and its importance for the organizations outlined by an historical analysis, later is given detail with a contemporary vision to explain about women"™s leadership in the presence of the increasingly number of women in the job market. Lastly, it"™s elucidated the difficulties faced by the female population in leadership positions regarding stereotypes that take them to confront the gender bias. In order to identify these factors, it"™s used a qualitative approach with the elaboration of a questionnaire to collect data. The survey was conducted with thirteen women that work in companies of Goiânia-GO, as of it was searched to understand how the prejudice regarding gender influences the leadership of these females, analyze the stereotypes that permeate the difficulties they face as leaders, and evaluate how these women perceive leadership in the job market, on the whole and with respect to gender.
